Stationery Show Inspiration!

As an invitation designer and calligrapher, of course I’m obsessed with paper!  I look forward to the National Stationery Show for inspiration, new materials and techniques and just to see what’s out there. It was wonderful to be surrounded by everything paper for two lovely days this week. So glad I live in New York!

Soho Paper’s booth was one of my first stops and they did not disappoint! I can’t wait to start using their new patterns and shapes for my invitations and to show all the possibilities to my brides!

Love the die cutting around the pockets. It adds such lovely detail.

Love these laser cut dragonflies, decorating Soho Paper’s booth.
So pretty and sculptural in gold on the turquoise.

And speaking of laser cutting, Do It With More Options
had a dramatic display that really caught my eye!

Also loved their adorable favor boxes!

I’m excited to work with both of these companies and to share their ideas and products
with my clients for their weddings and events!

Baseball Wedding

“It’s hard not be romantic about baseball”

Moneyball has been on a constant loop on Starz, and I finally committed and watched it. Brad Pitt’s character Billy Beane says several times that it is hard not to be romantic about baseball, and it’s so true. I don’t know if it’s because baseball is the all American past time or it’s just all the movies that revolve around it, but there is something undeniably romantic about it. There are no helmets in baseball, no heavy duty protective gear. No clock. Everybody’s a little vulnerable and can lose themselves in the moment. Same as in love. I have a hard time imagining a football themed wedding, or a soccer wedding, or – Heaven help us – a hockey wedding, but baseball, that I get.

I recently created a baseball inspired wedding invitation for our friend Margaret. She and her now-husband John are HUGE Mets fans so it was only fitting to have their reception at Citi Field. I was thrilled to design a playful invitation for her and love the way it turned out. The rsvp set is tucked behind the invitation panel and the ‘Take me out to the ballgame’ wrap holds it all in place with a ribbon tie.

What do you think? Would you have a sports themed wedding?
